Red Tail Hawk

Last time we traveled to Phoenix, we saw 4 hawks on separate occasions perching on a Saguaro cactus. Such beautiful sights to behold! There must be something that they were hunting for this time of year. But, we didn’t come prepared as we left the camera at home. So on the way over to Phoenix next time to pick up Stephanie’s CDs, we made sure we brought along the camera with us to capture this beautiful elusive creature.
Sure enough, we saw a couple and one of them was located close enough to get decent pictures using the zoom lens. I started taking pictures from the side of the freeway, but it wasn’t good enough for me. I wanted a close up one. I inched my way up the hill so as not to alarm him because hawks are very alert of their surroundings. He remained unperturbed while I was taking pictures. So, I approached further toward him by hiding behind a tree. I knew that when he saw me up close, he would fly away, and that was my purpose so I could take a picture of him in flight but the slope of the bank was too steep for me. I missed the take off, once again! Besides, I wasn’t familiar with my camera enough to get a quick focus. Darn it!

Belle, that was an awesome capture. And I love the color of the sky too. I miss seeing blue sky with white clouds. In Jakarta I couldn’t see a clear sky even in the morning!!!
That hawk looks so mighty up there. Thanks for sharing your photo, Belle.
Congratulatins to your daughter for the leap to number 1. Fame is within her reach and I hope she finishes her studies before she goes full time with her singing career, if she plans to do so.
Have a great week and take care!
That shot looks fine to me. Look at the eyes of that bird! Looks scary.
yehey for stephanie!
nice picture.
you must have been truly stealthy to get this shot.
that term eyes like a hawk was coined for a reason i am sure.
that it did not fly away before you took the picture is impressive!
I can’t believe you took this picture. Parang postcard! Amazing shot.
ang galing mo naman Belle! the sky is so blue…so beautiful
anyway there is always a next time and better be prepared when that time comes. I think merong camera feature na good for moving scenes. It can take at least 10 shots…sunod sunod and then you get to choose the perfect shot among the lot…di ko lang matumbok yung right term hehe obvious na limited ang kaalaman sa mga cameras hehehe oh well…basta good luck!
what a majestic bird of prey!
awesome pic, there Belle.
thanks.
leap to number 1! celebrity na talaga. pagkakaguluhan sya dito in case she comes, i am sure. congrats, dear Mom!
that is so cool mommy how did you get the “watermark” on the bottom right?
what a mighty looking hawk! you’re really good with your timing, if i am the one to take this shot naku, lilipad agad yan di pa ako nakakaporma hehe.
Hi Belle. That’s a great photo. The hawk looks majestic on top of that cactus plant.
BTW, I have an award for you on my blog. Take care.

Elyani, thanks. we always have blue sky in our neck of the woods.
Julie, thanks! yes, she definitely has to finish her studies if ever she wants to pursue this singing career. it is nice to have something to fall back on just in case the music thing doesn’t work out.
Gladita, thanks…he was probably looking for something to munch on.
Chesca, salamat! it took several tries before i captured the one i wanted.
K, talaga? one of my best shots, so far.
Verns, were you talking about sport action mode? yes, my camera has that feature pero i didn’t think about it until i was through taking pictures.
Ivan, what a surprise! i am glad you made your presence known. welcome to my humble abode. i am glad you like my photo. you’ll see more of it later…you’ll see.
sexymom, hehehe, baka umuwi iyan this summer.
tepsi, daddy was the one who added the watermark. don’t know how he did it.
Zherwin, the hawk would only allow me to approach him within certain distance so i screwed on my zoom lens. as soon as he saw me getting nearer, he flew away.
Rach, thanks! oh, thanks for the award. you are so kind. will be in your blog shortly.
K, it took exactly two weeks to mail CD to Hongkong, pero, the one i mailed to the Philippines na kasabay ng iyo hasn’t arrived yet. mabagal ng postal service sa atin talaga.
