Last Tuesday, my day off, I went on a cooking spree. I cooked four dishes namely Bikol Express, Ginataang Gabi (taro leaves cooked in coconut milk), Chow Mein, and Prawns in Spicy Chili Sauce.
Though I am only going to show one dish and that is Prawns in Spicy Chili Sauce. The only thing I did differently to the recipe was I dipped the shrimps in an egg wash and rolled them on the flour before deep frying.
To make an egg wash, I put 1/2 cup of milk in a bowl. To it, I cracked open one egg, and whisked it into the milk.
Red chilis and shallots before going into the blender.
As per Elyani’s instructions, I only deep fried the shrimps for about a minute on high heat.
And 45 minutes later, here’s what I came up with: Delicious Prawns in Spicy Chili Sauce.
Do you know that I haven’t cooked since last Tuesday because I am still eating leftovers. I even shared a big plate of chow mein, prawns, and brown rice to my friend, Patty so she didn’t have to cook dinner.

Belle, your spicy prawns looks so good! Am glad you like Indonesian cooking. Neat, nice presentation girlfriend
Wow Belle, ang sarap nyan, prawns are my favorite same with crabs and lobsters. Nakaka gutom post mo…Btw, what did you do with the chilis and shallots after you’ve put them in the blender? I mean, did you use other sauce to go with it?
You just have that wonderful way of making me hungry …
Looks great!!! I printed the recipe the other day and have been planning on making it.
Yesterday I shopped all day… and bought the ingredients on my way home.
Today I am going to a housewarming party with this dish and my adobo and leche flan. Let’s see what they think of it…
Elyani, thanks! next attempt will be much better.
Rowena, per Elyani’s instructions, i stir fried the paste in garlic(even though her recipe doesn’t call for garlic), and i modified the recipe by adding two heaping tablespoons of Bumbu Inti, an Indo essential seasoning for chili dishes, that i bought at the oriental store. it made a big difference!
NursyE, hope it turns out well, amiga. am also going to cook adobo today because my husband asked for it. he loves adobo.
Belle, basta shrimps di kita uurungan. It can be deep fried, sinigang, or spicy.
I love shrimps. Pahingi naman.
Sounds like a delicious and hearty meal. I love shrimps! Those dishes would surely make me get a second serving of rice.
Looks really yummy, Belle! We would love to visit your home when you’re in a cooking marathon
