to be honest, i don't know what persimmon is until i saw it in Jewel in the Palace, they made vinegar from persimmon. and it was only last christmas that i was able to see one in divisoria, i thought they're cross-breed of mango and tomato, but they're not as sweet as i thought they should.

Hi Belle. You always have a beautiful way of capturing the beauty around you. I love your beautiful photos!

That's a lovely butterfly. I'm sure you have many fluttering butterflies because of the various trees and plants in your garden. It must be terrific to have fruit bearing trees in your very own backyard.

Gerry, ay salamat, tolo na ang sakong commenters from home. re:plant, it is very true. it also bring a bit of nature and color into our home or office.

Pining, persimmon is its own thing, not an apple or anything. it almost looks like an orange tomato but tastes sweet and delicious.

Auee, lasa? basta masarap siya lalo na pag ripe na ripe na siya...ang tamis tsaka it has a long shelf life. i prefer pears over apples or bananas. i can eat 3 or 4 pears a day. try planting pear tree that will thrive in your area.

Mom, thank you! it is huge!

Daniel, thanks for gracing my site. i love fruits especially the organic kind like ours.

NursyE, i know what you mean. the flat rounder ones are good eating. our veggie garden didn't do well this year because of the gophers and ground squirrels. they ate all our veggies, one plant at a time.

You know this is my kinda place... I can get lost there forever and not get tired of it. I planted a semi dwarf Persimmons and hopefully next year I will have at least one fruit. I love it too. I had to make sure it was the eating kind and not the baking kind. Some people are not aware that there is a huge difference between the two.

The problem I get in this new area I moved in is the plant disease spider mites... I sure lost some of my best bonsai plants and other houseplants.

Looks great!!!

So that's a persimmon... ano lasa nyan?
:-P

I want to grow some fruit trees, too. Not sure how they will fit in our small garden but I'm determined to have pears -- my fave!

K, we used to go to the mountains too and gather as many veggies and fruits we could find. you should see me climbing a papaya tree, when i reached the top, the papaya tree would bend over bringing me almost to the ground. lucky, it didn't break.

hehehe...pag mura na ang plane tickets, saka kita padadalhan. pear is delicious and juicy.

sesame, yes, the butterfly was huge and hard to get a close up pic because it kept moving. i wanted to take a pic with its wings not spread out like that but no luck.

Bea, mayad ka ngani ta nakatikim ning pear kaso saday ka pa, ako dai lamang. if you are nearby, you can pick some off my tree.

Cheska, thanks! we have to give ourselves a note of the deadline for next month.

Elyani, yup, i can eat 3 to 4 pieces a day. delicious!

Anna, thanks! am flattered that someone like you like my photos. i will go on a 3-day trip today and will take more pictures of stunning scenes in AZ. persimmons are not ready until a month or so later. they turn yellow when they are ready.

Verns, thanks! i took it during the hottest time of the day kaya some didn't turn out good especially when you were shooting from below and light was against you.

Rowena, persimmons taste like mangoes but without the acid, not as juicy and somewhat firm in texture. am surprised we don't have it there in the Phil especially in Baguio.
