Lap-a-Desk 3000

Here are some pictures of the finished product Stephanie made for her ME203 project. It’s called “Lap-a-Desk” and it’s the kind that folds up into a mini-desk. It’s ideal for using when you’re lying in bed and want to keep the laptop in an elevated position. It’s also designed to use as a lap-desk so it blocks the heat that comes from the laptop. The desk revolves 360 so you can use the other side as a flat desk surface. The blue stuff silicone was supposed to help grip the laptop, but it doesn’t work very well so she inserted those wooden pieces you see that hold up the laptop. She made everything except the hinges.
Her proudest accomplishment of the moment! It took her 6 weeks plus about 4 weeks of lab where they learned how to use the equipment. She also had to make a magnifying glass from scratch. She made the wooden desk by using the sanding machine to make the curves. She said, it was hard to get all the curves symmetrical and even. But, the hard work paid off.

Stephanie rocks! She is a multi talented girl. She looks a bit thinner in this picture, Belle. I hope she is not overworked herself.
That is one cool invention. I would love to order one if she starts selling in e-bay Belle!
Elyani, thanks. i am amazed at what she is capable of producing.i was very thin, even thinner when i was going to college, too. hehehe, she has lots of years ahead of her to fill up
Toe, ohh wow, she has one buyer already. am not sure though if she is going into production. but, i will mention it to her.

What?! I thought this was professionally made. Coursework?
Really cool idea. You should patent this dear. It looks useful and I’m sure a lot of people will want one.
yes, it is a school project that she put together herself. it is useful for the laptop users. the problem of patenting this product is, it is expensive and anybody can copy and make a minor change in the design like adding arm rest, and it becomes theirs. but thanks, i will mention it to Steffi.
That’s a very good invention! This is what I need!
Good job, Steph!!
I’m impressed, belle. Not only a pretty talented singer, but inventor pa rin.
Wow! How ergonomic the design! Ipa patent nyo Ma’am Belle.
Btw, i have Batalay and more pics at my site.
Cool. Not only can she create the product, she can also model for it.
Hi Belle. Belated Happy Easter to you and your family.
That’s an amazing creation. I’m sure it will garner a high mark in school.
wow, very ideal for bloggers. target the blogger market, target the blogger market!
and she can also make them in different colors like pink for kikays, or add a customized mouse pad that can be attached to the side (some laptop users still prefer the mouse), and other stuffs that i am sure steph will think of.
happy easter belle!
Hi Belle

that’s great, is there anything she can’t do? it really looks like it’s professionally done, I’m sure that would go well with bloggers! yes, I’d want one of those in the future if it goes on the market!
Happy Easter Belle, lovely reading your blog again
I agree with everyone commenting about the patent before the Chi**** will copy that
And the customized design according to the user’s needs and personality
What a talented lady.
Ok, Belle, line me up with one together with the CD
Interesting!
First, I need a good bed, a wireless and then I’d buy two of those, one for my laptop and for my foot (as a footrest), hehehe.
Angelica - another kababayan from the little barrio i came from whom i haven’t had a chance to meet in person- it was so nice of you to make your presence known in my blog. thanks! pls come anytime.
MOM, thanks. this product is very useful for bloggers, indeed.
Niceheart - thanks! she earned an A grade for this.
Gerry - she hasn’t really thought about patenting the product. don’t know if it’s worth it, considering of the patenting cost. iyo nahiling ko na su mga pictures that u took of Batalay beach but i haven’t had a chance to comment on it yet. in due time, i will, when i find time.
Wil, yes! i was going to model the product myself, too, but…..
Rach, hope you had a peaceful Easter with your family and relatives. yes, she got an A in the class.
Zherwin - my husband uses mouse for his laptop, so yes, a mouse pad is a nice addition.
Pining, you are back! missed you a lot girl. it looks like this product is more popular than her CD….hehe. hope u had a peaceful Easter!
Julie, actually when she presented the product to the class, she was asked by her teacher if she planned to commercialize it and she might consider it.
K, hehehe, i don’t think this product would make a good footrest. but pillow would. aba, marami ng order huh? baka mas salable eto kaysa sa CD niya.
i want one!!!!
