Help! Help!

I wonder if you could help me solve my problem regarding leaving comments to some of my friends’ sites that blog at blogspot.com. When I am asked to choose an identity, I am only given two choices and they are google/blogger and openID, thus leaving poor me out. Whatever happened to the original “option” where commenters could leave their name and a link to their URL plus the anonymous feature? Was is removed without further notice? That is not nice! If that is the case, I would advice my niece, Gie, whom I recently directed to blogspot.com, to move to a more user and visitor friendly site like wordpress.com.
In some though, the old option is still there like Elyani, Chesca, Anna, to name a few. But with the newer bloggers, they took the old option and replaced with a new one wherein anonymous and name/url users are not allowed to leave comments. Now, I will miss Fe, Gie, and others….
Here’s the old comment option:

I, too find it so hard (confusing) to leave comments on blogspot. The commenting option was changed last year ata for security reasons, blogspot was attacked by spammers, so if you’re leaving a comment, either you need to:
1. log-in first (using your blogspot account) or;
2. use Anonymous (if commenting is enabled by the user).
But I think, for blogspot user, this may help.
Anyway, I don’t like it. Very clubby, too exclusive.
According to the link from K, it looks like its up to the blogspot user whether they will allow anonymous comments. For me, I have no problem with anonymous comments so I set up my blog that way. I guess the blogspot users you saw did not want to allow anonymous commenters.
you can use your yahoo email id to log in but google will ask you to sign up for a google account. it’s a quick one though. then you can use your email ad to post comment.
Hi Ate Belle,
The simplest thing to do is to sign your comment with
your name and blog address. Cut and paste your URL, so even if it’s anonymous, they can still see your info on the comment post.
i have no idea, so sorry about that. but i have to tell you, sometimes i feel that the additional step of writing the numbers/codes is a hassle. that is why i really lie wordpress.
Hi Belle,
I noticed that too! I have to agree with SexyMom, it is such a hassle to be writing down numbers and codes.
I like wordpress better too.
You can leave an html code where your blog’s name is inserted Belle or you can probably leave your link together with the comment, like this:
Julie
http://teacherjulie.com
At least we made the extra effort when commenting to those we know. Since I join weekly photomemes and follow those who comment in my posts, sometimes I do that but if I’m tamad, I don’t comment at all, lol.
The username would be your gmail account.
Hope this helped a bit.
auntie belle thats also the problem i always encounter. i wanted to leave some comments but then before i could drop a comment i need to fill up some blanks askin for my google id or blogger blah blah which is of course i dont have. i wonder why its like that… do i have to create an account to google or to some other site before i could be able to drop my comments? mmm i dont like it that way.. hehehe..
well yeah i agree! why cant it be just like how it is in our comments page? its so easy.. write ur name, then the email, next the url and then drop the comments.. no hassles at all..
mmm to be fair with the other webhost, perhaps the reason why they made it a lil complicated like that to avoid spams, or u know to avoid offensive comments from other bloggers. well i think so… and another thing is hi jackers. just 3 days ago, my other blog, http://www.angel.blogleafs.com, encountered a problem. it so happened that i could access it no more. i have no idea why. i told my friend about it, and thanks god she helped me retrieve it by contactin our webhost. so i am advised to change my password and make it long because it was hi jacked. hehehe didnt occur to me,,thought only planes get hi jacked..
Hi Tita Belle,
Do not worry about my page, i already solved the problem with that by signing up to a new site now, Blogxi.com. Soon, ill be deleting my account to the previous one. As you say, it was just a mistake recommending it.=)
But anyway, i am now satisfied with my new webhost because it is user-visitor friendly and more better features plus the WP….
Last night, i got a trouble editting my last post. For some unknown reason the text overlaped and i have been up to several adjusments but to no avail. Then this morning, i opened my Journalogger page and it went back to normal. Thanks.
Appreciate your visit Tita. You’ll get to know the other side of Gie more…=)
Hugs you,
gie
PS.i got another URL: http://vaguee.blogxi.com/
I know some readers have trouble commenting on my blogspot site. But I could no longer add to the suggestions given here except to say .. if you want to comment and couldn’t you can email me your comment to myrnaco@gmail.com and i guess i will just post it myself. Meantime, I am mulling over the idea of migrating to wordpress.
