Crayfish Feast…again

Arne, a good friend of ours, invited us over to his house for a crayfish feast. A few days ago, he had just shared with us a bucketful of crayfish, and honestly, I was getting a little sick of it. We still have leftover in the refrigerator that hasn’t been touched for days, which I am about to toss in the garbage. Nevertheless, I was curious how this expert cooked his crayfish. Ours was a little bland and could use more seasoning or something. So, we gladly accepted the invitation.
Oh my, I have never tasted crayfish that good! He flavored it with some kind of seasoning that I have yet to find out. I can always go back to his place to ask the recipe since I live within walking distance from his house. Every bite tasted good – from head to tail. Nothing wasted! Astoundingly, I saw him sucking the heads. Hmmm, he must have filipino genes in him. Soon, I was savoring the heads, too. Others were too gross to follow suit. They mainly gorged on the tails and claws. Hmmm, poor guys, they didn’t know what they were missing.
Arne is the King of Eating Crayfish, I must say. Boy, he could eat crayfish. He ate 30 of them. Look at how he lined up the shells on his plate. Isn’t it fascinating? I have never seen anyone so meticulous. He said, it is an old habit of his that he got accustomed to.
We surely enjoyed the evening with Arne, his wife and another couple. Joyce, Arne’s wife, sent the leftover home to my daughters. How nice! Daughter A loved it! Thanks Arne and Joyce for the lovely evening.

Yummy, yum, yum … I can smell the crayfish just looking at the photo. Your friend is surely a King of Crayfish…even his table cloth also bears the image of crayfish, eh?
Wow Ate Belle,
The crayfish looks great!
You are lucky to have him as a neighbor.
I can eat more than 30. Hm, makes me hungry now.
looks yummy
never had a crayfish before to be honest….
Yep, as much as they are so good, you sure do get tired of eating them. I know they freeze very well so you can have them later on again. That is what I do with my shrimps and other sea food that I bring home from visiting my cousins in Wimby Island in Washington.
Amiga, look up in the spices section a can of OLD BAY SEASONING. This is what I use for steaming shrimps and crabs… so tasty!!! There’s a direction in the back…
hmm, ansarap ata nyan sa maanghang na sukang puti!
have you tried putting some sprite when you steam your crayfish/shrimp? masarap din yun.
lyn’s sister also tried butter and oyster sauce and it’s also good!
Delish!!!
What a wonderful neighborhood you got, Belle. You are blessed.
How nice of your friend to invite you over. Wow, an abundance of mouthwatering crayfish. Looks really good.
Oh my! That’s a lot of crayfish there! I never had crayfish before. Looks yummy! Is the table cloth a crayfish design on it too?
I can possibly think that these food are good for bottle of beers too.

elyani, yes, he is the king of crayfish. it is not only his table cloth that has crayfish design, the napkins have it too.

kk, the way they arranged the crayfish on a serving plate was fascinating. he definitely deserved a 10 for presentation.

noemi, i can easily eat more than 30, too, but that night, i didn’t quite do as good. bread and crackers filled me up.

pining, crayfish are a warm water crustacean. they taste similar to shrimps, just to give you an idea.

nursye, you have relatives in whidbey island? used to live in WA ten years ago and seafood was in abundance. i love catching those dungeness crabs, chucking oysters, and digging clams.

old bay seasoning ba ang sekreto in cooking seafood? thanks amiga!

Zherwin, i haven’t tried adding sprite in steaming seafood but i have added it in my barbecue marinade, which seems to help tenderize the meat.

oyster sauce and butter for dipping sauce? will try that next time.

eric, yup, he is such a nice neighbor. and crayfish once a year surely are a good treat!

rach, yes, the tablecloth and napkin have crayfish design on it. they even decorated his house with huge dried crayfish.

k, crayfish go well with beer but since i was not a beer drinker, i settled for a bit of wine and lots of water.

I wish you were my kapitbahay, Belle, could share the leftover crayfish. I just know I’d love it too, being a gumbo-gambas fanatic. Arizona seems to be a wonderful place to be, outside the Philippines.
Woo…that’s A LOT of crayfish! A bit scary looking due to the quantity…but I’m sure they’re yummy.
Wow ang sarap tingnan… nakakainggit ka naman at may leftover ka
