MOM, thanks! although i need to practice often. camping is fun, indeed.

anna, gracias! know what, i had to take a refresher course in spanish for 4 semesters in our local college. it comes in handy especially when dealing with our amigos who barely talk english and they are everywhere.

uncampy looking stove? it is just a propane stove that is designed for camping. it is light, it folds in and it works really great.

I was also impressed with your Spanish. I had 12 units of it in college but I can't conduct a decent conversation. :)

I heard that in the USA, Spanish is considered the second language. So your hablo espanol must be very very handy.

I thought I saw a high tech, uncampy looking stove in the camping site?

Elyani, in Mexico, i always ask for a discount especially when i am next to my husband. they think all gringos are rich..hehe. and almost always, i am successful except on this trip. mango never ever gives us trouble when we travel except when he asks for attention. spanish is actually easy to learn than tagalog and that is according to my daughter S.

Rhodes,

indeed, it is fun traveling even without spending a fortune. the big cost is gasoline and a commercial camping site now and then when we need to use the facilities but lots of time, we just camp anywhere that looks safe, quiet, and secluded.

Patty, thanks! thanks SIL.

K, actually, on si (yes) and si (if), the last one needs an accent on letter I but i don't know how to put to go about it. esta (this-feminine) and esta ( verb-is), the latter needs an accent on the last A.

we have a lot of bikol words that are spanish like bintana, silya, kada, seboyas, kabayo, etc.

Mango is becoming a seasoned traveler.

Julie, my husband and I always look forward for my long weekend at work. it is fun and we get to eat ice cream in between our trip...ooops we shouldn't actually. i know what you mean about leaving the house empty in the phil. here, we don't have to worry about that...thank goodness.

sierra vista's house is long gone! we only had it for a year. at least we got to enjoy the pool and the spa.

thanks, though i need to practice more often so i don't lose it.

Belle, never mind that you had to come back for the wallet and the beddings. Your adventure look great! Exactly what me and my husband want to do (with the kids in tow) but you know how it is here, can't leave the house unattended.Your Sierra Vista house looks great by the way.

And your Spanish is good whereas I, I have forgotten what I have learned, oh maybe, "Yo no soy marinero" Ay! sa La Bamba pala yan, :D

Belle, I enjoy the conversation, I learned something from it. Say, when you want to buy a medicine, do you always have to bargain or end up going to the loo?

Si?

I tried not to read the translation but I somehow managed to understand every word, baging ga-bicol ka man sana. "cada saro iguang diskaunt"?

No.

So at least when the kids are out for college, you guys have the time for camping - I mean 3 days? I would literally go back to find my wallet for sure. Mango is cute, I think a parrot is lucky to have been able to join the 'party'.

Happy Halloween.

Hi Bella,

You did a nice job telling an interesting story about the whole trip. You ought to be a writer! Wait! You are - blogging is the new writing.

Wow, what a blissful life, Belle!

I'm amused by how you bargained with the pharmacy lady Here, you can't do that. hehe. Medicines are priced at fixed rates.

And your Spanish impressed me. I could speak modest Spanish way back in college because our instructor forced us to, but after graduation, most of my knowledge in Spanish just flew away. lol!

Belle, I love bargains, too. Don't tell anyone :) but I really love to find a great deal when I shop. Like you, am also always having a hard time sleeping in a new surrounding...even though I'd never had a camping trip. It took me a while to get accustomed in my sister house or when I was in G's house. Mango looked so comfortable there, I wonder if he is the only bird that loves to travel??? Hmmm...I am impressed with your Spanish too...is it difficult to master Spanish???
